The Winter Wood Wonders Festival was established in 2011 with the objective to have a wide variety of wood art on display and provide a winter festival for woodworkers.  The net proceeds of the show and sales are each year presented to the Hines Veteran Hospital of Chicago and the Wounded Warrior Group for the benefit of our veterans.  The three shows to date have contributed approximately $13,000 to these groups.

The Festival is also for the pleasure of the public and all wood artisans. We have wood carvers, wood turners, furniture makers and any artist working in wood. This is not a craft show.  It provides a winter show for the artists to gather and enjoy our work and see each other again. It also provides supplies as we have vendors of wood and tools at the show.  Food is also available on site for all artisans and customers to purchase.

The Festival also provides a unique opportunity for the public. Not only can they discover a one-of-a-kind wood art for the home, but they can meet and speak directly with the artesian that created the piece. Prices vary and the forms of art vary from stylized, realistic and rustic carvings, turnings, bowls, plaques, pens, shelves, live sized busts, caricatures, mantels, scroll work, ornaments, pyrography and furniture.

The two day festival also offers free demonstrations by the artists for those interested, which in the past have included J. R. Cadawas, Jim Hendersen, Shelly Weiser, Gene Westerburg, Bob Mau and Sharon Bechtold.

Admission is $4.00 and any contributions are accepted. A silent auction is also run during the two day event. We are working on having a special art piece to raffle this year, so please stay tuned.  Again, all net proceeds support our disabled veterans, so come and enjoy the show.

See the application for more details. If you are presenting a piece for the silent auction or raffle, please contact me and send a picture so we can put it on the website.
